Check out the different ministries you can be a part of at EBC!
AWANA Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs and programs for children. The goal of Awana is to reach children and teenagers, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. At Emmanuel, our Awana program serves children from pre-school to 6th grade. Each night consists of an active exciting game time, a Bible verse memorization time, and an engaging Bible lesson.
We are always looking for dedicated Christians who love children to join our Awana team. Please contact Rebecca Tuck, our Children's Director, for more information about how God can use you in this important ministry.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY The Kids Zone area at EBC is home to babies through 5th graders. Our desire is to teach children of all ages that they are loved by rocking babies to sleep, reading a story to toddles, singing songs or explaining Bible lessons as they grow. Classes are split up by grade levels from pre-k - 4th grade. Babies through 3 year olds are cared for separately in the front wing of the Children's Ministries Department.
You can get more information about getting involved in one of our areas by contacting Rebecca Tuck. CHURCH GARDEN The Emmanuel Community Garden provides an opportunity for those who need or want to grow some of their own food, and also provides food, free in Jesus name, to others who may not otherwise be able to afford wholesome, fresh produce. Participants can grow their own food in a dedicated plot or share in the care and harvest from group plots. Excess is intentionally grown & shared in various venues to bless the community. Plantings of berries and tree fruits are in development. The ECG seeks to minimize the use of pesticides and herbicides to ensure healthful produce. Opportunities include tilling, planting, weeding, pruning, watering, mulching, harvesting, and distributing produce, as well as fellowshipping with others who like to play in the dirt. Come grow with us. Interested parties should contact Paul Jero (572-0213) or Shannon Pollock (532-6936).
EBC Helps The EBC Helps Program recognizes that poverty is not primarily an economic condition, but a brokenness within the relationships between Creator, self, others, and the World. Community Outreach programs seek to care for both the body and soul of under-resourced individuals by fostering restoration within those four relationships through educating, equipping, and empowering people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. We partner with other churches, ministries, and organizations to provide social service programs to the community as a bridge to leading people to Christ and providing fellowship opportunities to walk deeper with Him.
We are looking for people interested in attending education and training opportunities on the cross-cultural nature of poverty. Possible formats for this include day seminars, a class series, book study, etc.
There are many organizations that we partner with that are looking for volunteers that the Community Outreach Department can help you figure out how to get plugged in to one of these ministries.
Interfaith Hospitality Network- providing housing for displaced families
Miami Valley Women's Center-providing services for women who are pregnant or have children under 5.
Family Violence Prevention Center-providing housing and services for women and children affected by Domestic violence
Contact Mark McClain, Deacon Chair, if you are interested in being a part of EBC Helps.
MAINTENANCE The EBC maintenance ministry includes maintaining and repairing all aspects of the building and its component systems. An integral part of the ministry is preventative maintenance to ensure the safety of those using the building. Due to the age of the original building and the constant use of the new building there is always something that needs repaired, replaced or repainted.
There are many ways that you can volunteer to help in the EBC maintenance ministry. There are volunteer work days on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (come at 8 for breakfast). Skilled and unskilled volunteers are all welcome! Other projects cannot be done on Saturdays and require help during the week.
If you are interested in volunteering to help with the building maintenance ministry, please contact Gary Phillips. You can let Gary know if you are interested in a specific area of maintenance or if you have specific skills.
MEALS Food can be a ministry! The EBC family tries to provide meals for those who are welcoming a new little one into the family, recovering from illness, or simply need a few meals to help during a difficult time. If you are interested in providing meals for families of EBC, please contact Sarah Mays to be added to the list of meal providers.
MISSIONS The EBC Missions Team seeks to provide encouragement and support to our full-time and short-term missionaries through various means. We also work to continually connect the congregation to the work and needs of our supported missionaries.
The Missions Team is looking for additional members who could join in the work. The team meets monthly to pray for our missionaries, discuss mission topics, coordinate support, coordinate mission events, and so forth. Members are needed to help in these areas as well as improving our communications with missionaries.
For more information please contact Steve Ruffner.
MUSIC & WORSHIP Being a part of the music team at EBC is an exciting and important ministry opportunity! Whether behind the scenes with our AV team, leading worship from the front, or providing music during an offertory, all are important aspects in setting the tone for corporate worship.
If you are interested in one of these aspects of Music & Worship, contact the church office. Please be prepared to discuss the specific skills and experience that relate to the area you are interested in being a part of. Also, please note that some aspects of Music & Worship may require auditions and/or membership.
Sunday morning offertories are provided by musicians attending Emmanuel on a regular basis. To be considered, please contact James Eldred.
SUNDAY MORNING TASK TEAM As EBC grows and changes, we purpose to improve both our facility readiness and our welcoming face to visitors. The Sunday AM Task Team, a new ministry initiative, is established to meet that goal.
There are many “behind-the scenes” tasks to conduct Sunday services and set the tone for our fellowship:
Set up WAC seating & adjust the thermostats
Brew the coffee & prepare Welcome Table
Greet & welcome worshippers (especially visitors)
Connect people with classes, places, information
Ushering - assist people to seating, take the offering
Respond to things that just happen during the service
To become a member of the Sunday Morning Task Team, contact Marty Larson.
UNIQUE NEEDS EBC's Unique Needs Ministry believes that all people are created in the image of God, are called by God, have special gifts, and are invited to participate in God's ministry. With this in mind, our purpose is to share God's love and compassion to each person whom God has brought us by creatively and uniquely teaching them God's Word, allowing them to worship in their own personal way, and providing them with fellow believers who will encourage and support them along the way.
One-on-one care providers (or "buddies") are an important part of our Unique Needs Ministry in that they provide direct, individualized, compassionate care to each child/adult in the program and have been trained to meet the specific goals for worship & teaching each family has requested.
To become part of this incredible team of one-on-one providers please contact Crista Dodson.
YOUTH MINISTRY The EBC Youth Ministry has three goals: Worship, Connect and Serve. Join the worship service at 10am on Sunday mornings, meet new people and participate in a small group, Bible study or other program offered by EBC, and consider serve in ministry. Leaders are expected to be FAT - Faithful, Available, and Teachable. Contact Van Holloway if you would like to learn more or join the leadership team in youth ministry.
